First competition of the season is in the books!! We didn't get in bed until midnight Saturday night but it was so worth it. These girls left everything on the stage!! We had several moments of complete overwhelm during quick changes lol but we made it through all 5 dances 🫠. BK said, "I just love dancing with my friends, Mom." Right before she passed out 😆 Thank you @iddancecomp for such an incredible weekend. Am I the only one that is bad at filming what I'm doing because I'm too busy ... doing the things?

It's that time again!! Dance competition season is upon us and I think after an entire season last year 🤣 I've finally mastered hair and makeup ... And then they threw in bubble braids this year 🙃 Dress rehearsal was today and Bella Kate is so excited to compete with her best girls in her 2nd season with the @aadofficial Company!

@aadofficial New Years Party was a huge success. Every time I get to spend time with these kiddos I'm reminded of just how amazing they all are. They always love on and play with Nora Dove, they cheer each other on like no other hype team, and I heard more "yes ma'ams" and "no ma'ams" than I could count. Good raisin'.

These are so easy and the kids loved doing it. As you can see from the mess at the beginning it took me a few iterations to figure out what looked best (and lots of texting back and forth with my bestie who is a far better crafter than I'll ever be🤣) if you want to make your own design, try it out on paper first until you get something you love lol. The girls had so much at a birthday party at @paintingwithatwist that I just had to look and see if they had more ways we could come in and paint, and they do!! They all have hours where you can "pop in and paint" and the girls can't wait to go back. Nora Dove we've found just adores painting and is actually quite good at it! Special thanks to the ladies at the Hendersonville Painting With A Twist for finding a project that was age-appropriate for Nora Dove while Bella Kate painted a sloth with the big girls. We'll be back soon! Wouldn't that make a great Christmas gift for the grandparents? Having the girls go in there and paint them something?

Took the girls with me to vote today in Tennessee. We had about 30 minutes in line for a nice civics lesson and then they watched me vote with little added explanations from me on each page about the different things we vote for. The best education in my opinion is the one they get from us as their parents in real life situations like this. I made sure to explain that our local elections make a huge difference and the importance of being educated on everything on the ballot before heading to the polls (we also voted on 4 potential amendments to our state constitution). They thought it was so cool to see this side of our government process in action ... And to get STICKERS at the end 🤣🫣

Today is a gift, that is why it is called "the present." We will not get a second chance at today. These days with our children are few and limited. I love my career, but my job as their mother is the greatest gift I've ever been given and nothing should come before that. I was so glad we took the day off to take the kids to the @nashvillezoo during fall break. I can't believe we've lived here 15 years and never enjoyed this zoo.
